How many glow stones do we need? How long will it last long?

Each size of glow stone has different area coverage per weight. Large size of stone will be seen as big bright spot which is good for the area that is required to be glow in group. Meanwhile, small size of glow stone has better area coverage per weight since its small size makes visibly glow area in small spot cover all the area. However, brightness of small stone is less than big stone. So that, usage of glow stone depends on requirement of each designed area

For making glow walking path or glow bike lane, glow stone with small size of 1-4mm is more appropriate due to its larger area coverage by weight. We can use less glow stone to cover the same area compare with using large size of glow stone, but brightness must be traded off.

Glow performance conforming DIN 67510 and ISO 17398 standard of Nexit^® glow stone

Keep the specimen in absolutely dark environment for 48 hours and then excited with D65 lamp at 1,000 lux intensity for 5 minutes. Then, measure luminance of glow stone immediately after turned off the lamp.

Glow stone is made from ceramic which is suitable for outdoor use.

Nexit^® glow stone is made from ceramic which has good endurance for sunlight and rain. Unlike resin material, glow stone made by ceramic does not shrink or having yellowing effect even using under UV light. Our glow stone can tolerate high temperature which is suitable for outdoor use. There are three colors for your choice; Green, Aqua, and Deep blue. Glowing performance is relatively good especially ceramic glow stone in green color, its performance almost reach DIN 67510 class D. Luminance level at 60 minutes is in range of class C but it is slightly deviate from class D only.

 

Usage example of glow stone

Nexit^® glow stone can glow without electrical power required. It is good for using in walking path, sandwash flooring, bicycle lane, garden decoration, plant pot decoration, or fish tank decoration.

For using glow stone to make sandwash flooring, brightness depends on mixing ratio of glow stone per area. Normally, sandwash flooring with 1-cm thickness requires 1 bag (20 kilograms) of normal stone per 1 square meter. In normal sandwash flooring process, the stone will be mixed not sprinkle on surface but this is not good for glow stone. Glow stone which is mixed and immersed into lower part of the flooring cannot absorb any external light and the glowing performance will be very limited. Hence, we need to add glow stone many more than the case of surface sprinkle. For glow sandwash flooring, we recommend to use small size of glow stone 1-4mm mixing with ordinary stone with ratio of 1 by 4 (1:4). In summary, we can use approximately 4 kilograms of glow stone (1-4mm) mixing with 16 kilograms of normal stone to make 1 square meter of glow flooring with thickness of 1 centimeter (1cm).
